Show overview:
Jon Thomas is the owner of
Precision Fitness
KC, a personal training
company that encourages, inspires and challenges people to take
control of their lives with a proper dose of exercise and a
sustainable approach to nutrition.
Big picture:
Jon is an entrepreneur who realized he could
make a living from one of his greatest passions, and not wait until
he was retired to be free from a 9 to 5 job. He wanted to enjoy
life now and pursue a career he loved.
Make an exit plan:
Much like other entrepreneurs we’ve
interviewed, Jon minimized risk before making the leap and quitting
his full time job. He and his wife paid down a large sum of debt,
and he built up his client base for personal training before he
left his corporate career. He encourages others to do the same and
be smart about their decisions when quitting their jobs to pursue
passions.
Faith and fitness:
As a Christian, he is confident that God has
led him on a great path in life, and that all his experiences have
accumulated to where he is today. For instance, he left a job at a
large construction firm based in Kansas City - JE Dunn to pursue
Precision Fitness. But without his construction experience, he
would have never had the skills and knowledge to build the addition
on to his house where he now trains and coaches his clients. Even
if his personal training business would fail (which we know it
won’t) he is confident it is all part of God’s plan to lead him to
the next thing.
