The GenWhy Leaders Podcast

Sep 13, 2019

Show Overview:

In episode 010 of the GenWhy Leaders Podcast, Amy Jo, Founder of Her Own Magic tells listeners how she developed herself into an online business and creative coach for women entrepreneurs. While working at a local community college in 2012, an art therapy teaching role fell into Amy’s lap. To her surprise she liked it, and knew that she could help others grow beyond the classroom. She took her passion for helping others and her creative skills and created products and services to help other entrepreneurs do the same.

Amy’s Why:

Amy enjoys helping women entrepreneurs package their brain and skills and deliver them online. Recently becoming a mother, her new why is to show her son that you can design your own life any way you choose, no matter where you are in your journey.

Is the online coaching and consulting market too crowded?

No. in fact, there is a person who gets paid to go search for bigfoot and document his findings online. Knowing that, there is room for just about anyone and the topics you want to coach online.

Tips from Amy for building your online business:

  1. Keep your eyes on your lane, and don’t compare yourself to others.
  2. Use your website as a conversation machine, not just a digital “about you” page.
  3. Pick 2 to 3 thought leaders in the space that you want to model your business after, and take their advice/mimic what they’re doing.

What are money blocks?

The feeling of apprehensiveness or guilt to ask people for money when you’re launching your business. This is pivotal for new entrepreneurs because you have to start making income to have a business. If you don’t - it’s just a hobby.
